In a recent social media post on X, Joe Bonamassa shared his thoughts on the upcoming boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

Echoing the sentiments of many who respect Tyson’s mastery in the ring, the guitarist reposted Tyson’s fight announcement, commenting:

Historic Match-Up

The boxing world is set to witness a remarkable event as Paul faces off against Tyson in a match scheduled for July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas. This fight, live-streamed on Netflix, represents a significant moment for both fighters and the sport, merging the worlds of traditional boxing with the modern era of entertainment and streaming.

Paul, who has made a name for himself in the boxing world with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss since his debut in 2020, is set to take on Tyson, whose legendary career boasts 50 wins, 6 losses, and 44 knockouts. This fight marks a full-circle moment for Paul, who fought on the undercard of Tyson’s exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, Tyson’s first match since 2006.

Paul And Tyson’s Thoughts On The Match

The fight between Paul and Tyson is being produced by Netflix in partnership with Paul’s and Nakisa Bidarian’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP). Jake expressed his excitement about the fight, reflecting on his journey from viral knockout to facing one of boxing’s greatest. He shared:

“My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion ever, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. This will be the fight of a lifetime.”

Tyson, on his part, acknowledged Paul’s growth as a boxer and the unique challenge the fight presents. He stated:

“He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT. It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him off on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”

This boxing match is part of Netflix’s broader strategy to include live sports in its offerings, following the success of ‘The Netflix Slam’ and ‘The Netflix Cup.’ The streaming giant is also set to become the weekly home of WWE’s ‘Monday Night Raw’ starting in 2025, indicating its commitment to becoming a major player in the world of sports entertainment.
