Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell has shared a sad update about the band.

The rocker sat down with Loudwire Nights to talk about his upcoming solo album, ‘I Want Blood.’

“There’s a couple of things that we’re working on, like non-album related,” Cantrell said of Alice In Chains.

“It’s an interesting work. One song is not going to really give you the complete picture of a record, but it gives you a pretty good sneak preview of some of the places that might be explored on this,” he added.

Even though Jerry Cantrell is busy promoting his solo album, he hasn’t forgotten about Alice in Chains. It has been six years since their last album, ‘Rainier Fog,’ but the band is still active. They’ve been on tour recently and released anniversary editions of ‘Jar of Flies’ and ‘Dirt.’

After ‘AIC 23’ popped up again on social media last year, fans got their hopes up for a new Alice In Chains project. “Other than the dates with Guns N’ Roses that just got announced, we’re not talking about anything,” the frontman William DuVall clarified. “Playing these shows will be interesting for sure, and we are happy to do it but other than that, no. It’s funny because ‘AIC 23’ I forgot about that mockumentary, and it just so happens that now the year is 2023, so I can see where people would want to make a connection.”

William said he got why fans might link the old ‘AIC 23’ mockumentary to a new album, but the band wasn’t planning to do much unless it was for their tour.

It’s clear now that a new Alice in Chains album isn’t happening this year, but Cantrell is gearing up for his solo album release on October 18. He’s already dropped two singles, ‘Vilified’ and ‘Afterglow.’
