After their on-and-off relationship, Jason Bonham has extended an olive branch to Sammy Hagar.
Hagar recently shared one of his own interviews on Instagram about his marriage and celebrated their 28th anniversary. Many friends like Michael Anthony celebrated the anniversary in the comments section, and it included Bonham too.
“Love & Miss you guys. The Bonham’s xoxo,” he commented under the post. Hagar, however, hasn’t responded to his comment yet.
His comment came after Hagar explained the ‘valid’ reasons that Bonham was let go from the band in an interview. He said even though Kenny Aronoff joined last minute, he learned all the songs in an instant.
“Yeah, and that’s why he is still in the band. That’s why we’re moving forward with him,” Hagar explained. “There’s two reasons. Number one, he’s one of the greatest drummers on the planet. I think he’s been on more million-selling records than any musician in the world. And he did so well on this tour, and he plays with Joe on a full-time basis.”
In September, Bonham had missed the last four tour dates on Hagar’s tour to care for his mother. The decision to let the former drummer go didn’t sit well with fans and as a result, Hagar received backlash. When a fan asked, “Why did you let Jason go?” another user replied, “Ego.” “Man there is a lot complaining on here today. Hang in there Sammy and Mike you can choose and do as you please. Jason is going to be ok,” another commenter added.
Bonham also said that he was devastated to be let go.
After Bonham’s departure from the band, Kenny Aronoff stepped in as his replacement. Aronoff made his first appearance with the band at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on August 27.
