Fans were quite excited to see Jane’s Addiction on stage during the Spirits On Fire Tour, but Dave Navarro’s absence was a great disappointment. As it seems, Navarro’s struggles with COVID-19 aren’t over. In a recent tweet, the band announced that Josh Klinghoffer would replace the guitarist for the upcoming shows.

“We’d like to address the questions surrounding Dave and the upcoming Jane’s shows,” Jane’s Addiction wrote in their announcement. “As a band, we are in a great place, writing new music, and the bond is tighter than ever. We all hope Dave can be out playing with us; when he feels healthy and ready.”

The statement continued, “For the near future, our brother Josh Klinghoffer will jump in for the upcoming shows on the West Coast, South America, and some additional international shows, soon to be announced. We want to thank you all for being there with us over these thirty-some-odd years. You know, we’re going to keep throwing it down for you. Perry, Eric & Stephen.”

In September 2022, Dave Navarro updated fans on his health status and said he had been struggling with the long-term effects of COVID-19 for a long time. He then announced that Troy Van Leeuwen would fill him for the Spirits On Fire tour. Since then, Navarro has been trying to recover and get on the stage with the band again.

Perry Farrell thought Dave’s shoes were hard to fill, but they trusted Van Leuuwen’s talent. As the tour progressed, Josh Klinghoffer and Daniel Ash also joined the band to support them. Apparently, this time Klinghoffer will replace Navarro for forthcoming Jane’s Addiction shows, as the guitarist hasn’t fully recovered from the disease yet.
