James Michael On His Working Relationship With Nikki Sixx

James Michael has been the lead singer of Nikki Sixx’s Sixx:A.M. since the band’s formation in 2007. Apart from producing Sixx:A.M.’s two studio albums, Michael also assisted Nikki Sixx along with DJ Ashba by producing, mixing, and co-writing Mötley Crüe’s album ‘Saints Of Los Angeles.’ The musician contributed to Sixx:A.M. with many talents as a multi-instrumentalist, lead vocalist, songwriter, producer, and mixer. Recently, he joined In the Trenches with Ryan Roxie and talked about his partnership with Nikki Sixx.
“To answer the question of what it’s like to work with Nikki and D.J.,” James began revealing his opinions about working with Nikki Sixx and DJ Ashba, “It’s that chemistry that you hope you find when you are in this music industry. You hope you get lucky enough to meet a guy or a couple of guys you jell with and can work with on every level — professional and personal. And that’s what it’s been like.”
After releasing their ‘Prayers For The Damned, Vol 1’ and ‘Prayers For The Blessed, Vol 2,’ Sixx:A.M. released a 10th-anniversary edition of ‘The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack’ and went on a hiatus. In 2019, the band released a single titled ‘Talk To Me,’ their first release in three years.
Sixx:A.M.’s latest release was the greatest-hits album, ‘Hits,’ which hit the shelves on October 22, 2021. Though fans have been expecting new material from the band, there is no work in progress right now. In a previous interview with Antihero Magazine, James Michael also touched upon Sixx:A.M.’s future and implied that they had no plans of recording new music or touring because they were all burnt out.
However, he left the door open and expressed willingness to work with Nikki Sixx and DJ Ashba. According to James, they have a unique chemistry and can work together on professional and personal levels. So, it would be sad if Michael, Ashba, and Sixx didn’t get back together as a band.
