Jake E. Lee recently discussed his experience surviving a shooting incident in Las Vegas in an interview on Talk Is Jericho. He shared details about the investigation and arrest of the suspects.
When asked about whether authorities ever caught the individuals responsible for the shooting, Lee explained the circumstances that led to the suspects’ apprehension. He also revealed the severity of the case.
“They did. I became friends with one of the detectives,” Lee said. “They caught the guys two weeks after the shooting.”
Lee noted that the high-profile nature of the incident prompted swift action from local officials. “And he had told me it’s because it got news nationally — internationally, really — for a couple of days it did. The mayor’s office, city council, and other officials were concerned. They said, ‘Oh, this looks really bad. A guy can’t walk his dog without getting shot in Vegas. We need to solve this. We need to solve this.'”
The investigation proved effective with the increased resources allocated. “So they had more resources available than they normally would. They caught the guys, and the gun was tied to two previous murders. He’d already killed two guys,” Lee continued. “So, yeah, I have no doubt he was trying to kill me. Thankfully he didn’t spend too much time at the range. He was charged with two murders and attempted murder.”
The suspects were ultimately charged with two murders and attempted murder in connection with the incident.
The shooting incident that Lee survived unfolded in the early morning hours. On October 15, 2024, Jake E. Lee was shot multiple times in his driveway at the 11000 block of Alora Street in Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He was about to walk his dog, Coco, at approximately 2:40 a.m. when the attack occurred. He sustained injuries to his forearm, back (which broke a rib), and foot. Fortunately, none of the shots struck vital organs, and his dog remained unharmed throughout the ordeal.
The rapid response from the community and law enforcement proved crucial in Lee’s survival. A neighbor heard the gunshots and immediately hid his children, grabbed a gun, and called 911, as reported by Blabbermouth. Police discovered 15 shell casings at the scene, indicating the intensity of the attack. Lee was transported to a Las Vegas hospital where he received treatment in intensive care. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The investigation that followed revealed the severity of the suspects’ criminal history. The gun used in the attack on Lee was linked to two previous murders, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. This indicated that the suspects were involved in other serious violent crimes. The two men arrested in connection with the shooting were scheduled to be sentenced in July 2025. They face charges including the attack on Jake E. Lee and related offenses.
Authorities described the incident as “completely random,” underscoring the unpredictable nature of the violence that Lee experienced. Despite the traumatic nature of the attack, Lee has remained resilient. He has expressed his intention to continue participating in upcoming music events, demonstrating his determination to move forward from this harrowing experience.
