Papa Roach frontman Jacoby Shaddix revealed his social media habits were influenced by Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe’s incarceration in a recent interview with Loudwire.

“I was inspired by a bunch of my other sober musician friends,” Shaddix explained. “We had a gratitude list going around, it started when Randy Blythe was in prison, and there was this gratitude list that I was part of.”

“We were hoping it was going to get to Randy while he was incarcerated,” he added.

Shaddix’s social media presence now regularly features these gratitude lists. This practice emerged from a challenging moment in the metal community.

The support system developed during one of modern metal history’s most challenging periods. Its impact resonated throughout the entire music community.

Documentation from Wikipedia revealed that authorities arrested Blythe on June 27, 2012, at Prague’s Ruzyně Airport. The arrest stemmed from the death of a fan, Daniel Nosek, who suffered fatal injuries at a concert two years earlier.

Blythe remained in Pankrác Prison for five weeks before his release on bail. Loudwire reported that the court cleared Blythe of criminal liability for Nosek’s death in March 2013.

MetalSucks noted that the incident transformed the metal community’s approach to live performances. The case initiated crucial discussions about stage security and artist-fan interactions.

Blythe’s acquittal marked a turning point in his advocacy for concert safety. His experience sparked positive changes in the metal community, similar to the gratitude practice it inspired among musicians like Shaddix.
