Jack White‘s ex-wife, Karen Elson, took her stance in the discussions regarding The White Stripes‘ percussion quality and Meg White’s talent. She defended White against a Twitter user who criticized the drummer with a harsh tweet.
The White Stripes stayed together for decades, even after the band members broke off their marriage in 2000, and created many songs that were admired by their fans. However, they disbanded in 2011 to pursue their careers separately. Around that time, Jack White was still married to Karen Elson, whose recent tweet reveals that she liked the band’s and Meg White’s music.
Earlier this week, a Twitter user claimed that The White Stripes could have been more successful if Meg White was not its drummer, and many famous names and fans came up to defend the musician’s honor against him. Elson became one of these people by stating that White was a talented drummer who contributed significantly to the band‘s music and success. She cited her ex-husband, Jack White, to support her argument and demanded the user leave her alone.
Elson’s tweet on the matter read:
“Not only is Meg White a fantastic drummer, [but] Jack also said the White Stripes would be nothing without her. To the journalist who dissed her, keep my ex-husband’s ex-wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth. (Please and Thank You)”
The user who made the original claims deleted his tweet shortly after, but his remarks sparked a heated discussion about Meg White’s abilities as a drummer. Still, the responses to the criticism, including that of Karen Elson, show that the positive opinions on the former The White Stripes member outweighs the negative ones.
