New Linkin Park singer rumors are still around, and a few people have been suggesting Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley as the new singer. Recently, Sum 41 has teased an upcoming announcement, and now more people think Whibley could be the new LP singer.
“Tune in. Wednesday morning Deryck Whibley announcement,” the band wrote in a statement on X.
Surprisingly, the countdown ends at the same time Linkin Park’s recently shared countdown ends.
Many fans are connecting the dots since Sum 41 is finishing their career with a farewell tour that ends in January 2025. This leaves Whibley with an open schedule after that. “Holy f*ckin sh*t he’s the new Linkin Park singer,” a user wrote. “Welcome to Linkin Park,” another added.
And one user mentioned the memorial show LP and Whibley went on together: “I’ve said ever since the memorial concert, that Deryck was the closest to sounding like Chester.”
At the end of April, Billboard reported that Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, and Dave Farrell were considering a possible reunion tour for 2025 and thinking of hiring a female vocalist to replace the late Chester Bennington. However, this rumor might not be spot-on since it’s not a female vocalist, but Deryck did join LP on stage several times so he already has some experience with the band.
