Disturbed bassist John Moyer recently addressed concerns about the band’s future after they announced a break following their massive tour. He shared his perspective in an interview with Mark Strigl.
Moyer’s comments focused on reassuring fans that the band’s hiatus is routine and that new music is already in development.
“Every band takes a break after they tour,” Moyer said. “There’s nothing special about this… It’s not that big a deal.”
The bassist emphasized that fans shouldn’t worry about the band’s creative output during this period.
“There’s no shortage of music coming from Disturbed,” he continued. “The band’s been working in the studio for the last two years, and there’s a lot of material that is sitting there, that’s gonna get released.”
This statement comes after Disturbed announced their break following the conclusion of their recent extensive touring cycle.
Moyer’s reassurances carry weight given Disturbed’s history of successful comebacks after extended breaks.
Wikipedia reported that the band previously took a hiatus from 2011 to 2015. During this period, frontman David Draiman pursued a side project called Device with Geno Lenardo. The industrial metal project released one self-titled album before Disturbed reunited for their highly successful return.
The band’s 2015 comeback album Immortalized proved that breaks can actually benefit creative output. The album marked a triumphant return to form and demonstrated that time away from touring allowed the band to refocus their artistic vision.
Since their reunion, Disturbed has maintained consistent productivity. They released Evolution in 2018 and Divisive in 2022. This track record supports Moyer’s confidence about the band’s current studio work and future releases.
The bassist’s comments suggest that fans can expect new material relatively soon, given that the band has been working on songs for the past two years. This extended preparation period mirrors their previous approach to album development and indicates a deliberate, thoughtful creative process.
