Iron Maiden’s management issued a strong statement about phone usage at concerts in a message on the Iron Maiden official website.

Manager Rod Smallwood addressed audience members who continued filming despite the band’s recent policy against excessive phone use during performances.

“A huge thank you to every one of you who kept your phones down, respected the band and your fellow fans, and embraced the show the way it’s meant to be experienced – in the room with us,” Smallwood stated. “That was a great boost for us and the band appreciated it greatly.”

He emphasized the impact of direct audience connection on the performance.

“It is so much better when they can see you unencumbered and that drives them on without that distraction,” he continued. “For the selfish few that didn’t and just had to keep videoing… I wish you nothing but a very sore arm!”

The statement reinforces the band’s ongoing efforts to encourage direct engagement during live performances.

The message emerges as part of the legendary metal band’s broader initiative to enhance concert experiences for both performers and attendees.

A report from Blabbermouth revealed the band’s specific request for fans to “severely limit” phone usage. The directive coincides with their “Run For Your Lives” world tour, which began in Budapest on May 27. The tour marks 50 years since the band’s formation.

The initiative mirrors a growing industry trend. Consequence noted that Tool has implemented strict no-phone policies at their concerts. These policies sometimes lead to the removal of fans who violate the guidelines.

Louder Sound highlighted similar approaches by Jack White and Alicia Keys. Both artists emphasize the importance of maintaining an immersive concert experience without digital distractions.

The band’s current tour features material from nine studio albums. This extensive setlist makes the focus on direct audience engagement especially meaningful for fans experiencing these historic performances.
