Heart’s Ann Wilson broke silence on her health following the cancer diagnosis.
“[I’m] feeling great!” the singer said in her recent interview with American Songwriter. “My health is doing cool—I’m clear. It’s very wonderful. I’m feeling like myself.”
Her sister Nancy added, “[I] can’t wait to get on big stages with Ann [to play some] strong, muscular rock and roll. It asks a lot of you. To bear your soul, to be honest with your truth, to bring your truth out of you. It becomes your soulmate.”
In July, Heart postponed their 2024 North American tour as Wilson underwent cancer treatment. They had already canceled European dates in May. Ann shared a statement about it at the time.
She explained, “Dear friends, I underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful and I’m feeling great, but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do it.”
“And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover. “To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025,” she revealed.
The musician added, “My team is getting those details sorted and we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support. This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing. Respectfully, this is the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter.”
Heart canceled the rest of their tour with Cheap Trick, which was set to continue in August. They later announced new tour dates.
The group’s North American dates for The Royal Flush Tour start on February 28 in Las Vegas. Squeeze, Cheap Trick, and Lucinda Williams will join them for most shows.
