Slash honored his step-daughter Lucy-Bleu Knight’s memory on what would be her 26th birthday. Knight passed away in July this year.
“Today is your Birthday, Lucy-Bleu! You would have turned 26. [Forever 25],” the guitarist captioned an Instagram post of his step-daughter’s childhood photos on Instagram.
“Missing you is the hardest thing I’ll ever do,” he continued. “We are going as a family to celebrate your life in full Lucy style! I hope you know how proud I am of all you have done in this world before you left it. You have left such a beautiful mark here, and it has not gone unnoticed. Happy Birthday my beautiful girl.”
In a separate post, Slash also wrote, “Happy Birthday, dearest Lucy. We celebrate today what would have been your 26th year in our hearts. We miss you so much it’s indescribable. Love you forever.”
Knight’s family announced her death on July 22, saying she had died three days earlier at the age of 25. At first, they shared no details about her cause of death. Later, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed it was hydrogen sulfide toxicity.
The report read, “[It was] determined the cause of death for 25-year-old Lucy-Bleu Knight as hydrogen sulfide toxicity. The manner of death is suicide.”
Slash canceled several S.E.R.P.E.N.T. tour dates in summer, citing ‘unforeseen circumstances,’ after his step-daughter’s passing. The tour continued on July 28. Shortly after, the Guns N’ Roses guitarist paid her tribute on social media.
“My heart is permanently fractured,” he shared. “I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are. The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally.”
Lucy-Bleu Knight worked as a manager at Electric Lady Management. She was also a tattoo artist who shared her artwork on social media.
