Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Melissa Reese has sparked rumors of a silent exit from the band after a new post with Frank Ferrer and Brain Mantia on Instagram. Reese took time off from the band because of undisclosed health issues. Her new photos with former Guns N’ Roses drummer Ferrer and Mantia have raised fan concerns about her delayed return.
The post included a short caption from Reese about how she was feeling.
“Happiness. Soul is smiling. Say less. Miss you all,” Reese wrote.
Fans reacted to the post on Reddit. One Guns N’ Roses fan wrote about Reese’s appearance and speculated about her status in the band.
“She looks happy and healthy in this picture with Brain and Frank,” the fan wrote. “I wonder she also got fed up of the touring and left the band or something. Her backing vocals were pretty great, apart from that she did not do much because they are still able to play Madagascar and There Was A Time without her.”
Another fan disagreed. This fan pointed to her contribution to the band’s sound.
“She was great, of course they can play without her, that doesn’t meant it didn’t sound 10 times better with her in, not just in those two song but in most,” the fan wrote. “Axl really can use a female vocals to complement his own. I hope she’s back.”
Neither Reese nor the band has confirmed whether she will return. The questions about her status make more sense in light of how her absence began and how she came to the group.
The band announced on the eve of its 2026 world tour that Reese would not take part in the run. The statement was brief and gave no further details about her situation.
“Rock legends Guns N’ Roses have announced that Melissa Reese will not be joining the band on tour due to unforeseen personal reasons.”
Guns N’ Roses opened the tour in Monterrey, Mexico, on March 28 without her. The show featured a 26-song set that included the live debuts of “Nothin'” and “Atlas.” The band has continued the tour since then.
Reese joined Guns N’ Roses in March 2016 as its second keyboardist, replacing Chris Pitman. She handled synthesizer, sub-bass and background vocals. She also programmed the electronic sounds for the band’s live performances. Her role made her the first female full-time member of the group.
Her link to Mantia goes back to her arrival. Mantia, the former Guns N’ Roses drummer, recommended her to the band before she joined in 2016. That history helps explain why her recent photos with Mantia and Ferrer drew so much attention from fans.
