Goblin Co-Founder Massimo Morante Passed Away At 70

Italian progressive rock band Goblin recently announced the death of their co-founder and guitarist Massimo Morante in a post on their official Facebook page.

Goblin was formed in 1972, and over the years, the band had a bumpy road regarding their lineup. Though they took numerous breaks and had many reunions, they left a mark on the music scene with their successful film scores.

The band mainly gained recognition for soundtracks for several horror movies, including the 1977 classic ‘Suspiria,’ Dario Argento’s ‘Deep Red,’ and the 1978 film ‘Dawn of the Dead.’ Their guitar player Massimo Morante was with them in all of these creations.

Unfortunately, the band recently shared a post on their Facebook page displaying Massimo Morante’s picture. The group’s surviving members confirmed the musician’s passing at 69 in a statement, but they didn’t immediately report Morante’s cause of death.

In their Facebook post, the band announced:

“Goblin announce with a heavy heart and in total disbelief the passing of founder and guitar master Massimo Morante.”

After the announcement, many fans of the band and Massimo Morante shared condolences with his family, friends, and bandmates. Though the cause of death is a mystery, for now, fans are expecting an explanation while remembering him with his most celebrated works.
