Glenn Hughes Celebrates 25th Anniversary Of Living Clean And Sober

While alcohol and substances bring the end of so many people’s journey in the industry, some have come out from the other side with flying colors and have 25 years of being sober under their belt to prove their determination to grow and be better as people and musicians. One of those people is the Dead Daisies lead singer and bassist Glenn Hughes, who took to his official Instagram account to share his biggest milestone.

Hughes wrote, “Soul is full of gratitude; on this day, my 25th year of living is clean, sober, happy, joyous, and free. To awake at sunrise each day and give thanks for another day on Planet Earth.”

Glenn continued, “Sending love to my sober brothers and sisters as we walk this path together, and more importantly, to my brothers & sisters who are still suffering out there; love is the answer.”

The singer also shared that his purpose of pursuing music has helped him ground and heal himself to carry on his journey of sobriety. “Music is the center of my life, and sobriety is the key that holds it all together,” wrote Glenn Hughes. “God granted me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Hughes had previously written about his path to sobriety and recovery in his autobiography ‘Deep Purple And Beyond: Scenes From The Life Of A Rock Star,’ released in 2011. The singer was one of the first rock stars that became unanimous with being an addict. However, Glenn proved many people wrong, as he has managed to lead a happy and healthy life by staying sober for 25 years.
