Ginger Wildheart of The Wildhearts recently provided his first health update after revealing his cancer diagnosis and decision to refuse treatment. He shared his thoughts in a post on Instagram.

The musician’s post focused on mental clarity and positive thinking as key elements in his approach to dealing with his situation.

“I started to be free when I discovered that the cage was made of thoughts,” Ginger Wildheart said. “So true. You are what you think. Clearing your mind of fear and negativity is the magic carpet that never told you about.”

He continued with advice about overcoming challenges and finding inner peace.

“Tackle your fears and allow no negativity in or out, and you will find peace and connection,” he continued. “You are here to remember what you are. This is how you find out.”

When a Wildhearts fan asked about his current condition, commenting “How are you Sir? You’re in my heart and thoughts daily,” Ginger Wildheart responded directly about his wellbeing.

“I’m great thanks,” he responded. “Positive as f*ck.”

This latest update reflects the musician’s continued commitment to maintaining a positive outlook following his recent health revelations.

Guitar World reported that Ginger Wildheart was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL), described as a rare but aggressive strain of cancer. The diagnosis came after medical tests following severe pains he experienced during The Wildhearts’ December 2025 More Satanic Rites UK tour. He used painkillers to continue performing and avoid disappointing fans.

The band made the official announcement on March 16, 2026, through a statement posted on social media. Louder Sound noted that the following day on March 17, Wildheart shared his personal decision regarding treatment in his own social media post.

“I won’t go through treatment. I’ve lived the life of ten men and will die with dignity,” he stated in his March 17 post. “Still got 2-3 years to say goodbye to everyone. And I’ll be rocking until the very last moment. No misery please. Positivity all the way.”

Despite the diagnosis, the 61-year-old musician remains active and creative. Louder Sound confirmed he is currently in “fine fettle,” actively writing new material for a follow-up to *Satanic Rites of the Wildhearts* and working on solo projects. All scheduled gigs remain on as planned. The band emphasized that “strength and positivity will prevail and the show will go on.”

The band’s statement encouraged fans to continue attending shows, reinforcing Wildheart’s determination to keep performing despite his health challenges. His recent Instagram update demonstrates his unwavering commitment to maintaining the positive mindset he outlined when first sharing his diagnosis and treatment decision with the public.
