Gil Moore recently addressed questions about Mike Levine’s participation in Triumph’s upcoming reunion tour. He provided an honest assessment of the situation in an interview with Border City Rock Talk.
Moore explained the uncertainty surrounding Levine’s involvement due to health challenges. He emphasized the band’s supportive approach to their longtime bandmate.
“Mike [Levine] is, you know, let’s put it this way. He’s thrilled about what we’re doing. He’s enthused. He has faced some health challenges as you know and it’s going to be a game time decision like what his capabilities are. We’re not putting pressure on him,” Moore said.
The drummer continued to outline the band’s flexible stance regarding Levine’s potential participation.
“So, we’re like, ‘Hey, Mikey, we there’s a seat for you obviously here.’ And he’s our brother, but where and when he’s going to be able to come out is going to be a matter of how he’s doing at the time,” he explained.
Moore emphasized the band’s commitment to transparency with fans about the uncertain situation.
“I really don’t want to speak for him. I just It’s the best thing to be totally transparent with the audience is just say we really don’t know. It’s going to come down to how he is. We’re a fair ways away from it. So, we’re a couple months out. So we’ve got our fingers crossed that he’s going to be able to participate as much as he can,” Moore concluded.
The reunion tour remains several months away. This gives Levine time to assess his health and determine his level of participation.
Levine himself has been candid about the specific nature of his health challenges that may affect his performance capabilities. Blabbermouth reported that the bassist revealed he has a hand problem that limits his playing ability. He stated he doesn’t want to perform if he can’t execute properly.
“I have a problem with my hand that precludes me from being able to really play well. That is a big issue. I don’t want to go up there and not be able to execute properly,” Levine explained in a recent interview.
Despite these physical limitations, Levine has developed creative solutions to ensure his presence during the reunion shows. Antimusic noted that he plans to pre-record video content and special effects that will be incorporated into the performances at various points throughout the shows.
“I am going to pre-record a couple of things… they will get pumped into the show at various times. I will be there physical or virtually in one way shape or form,” Levine confirmed. This demonstrates his commitment to being part of the reunion despite his health constraints.
The upcoming tour marks Triumph’s first major reunion in three decades. This makes Levine’s participation particularly significant for longtime fans. Ultimate Classic Rock revealed that the original power trio of Moore, singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, and Levine will be joined by additional musicians including drummer Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns. This ensures the shows can proceed regardless of Levine’s availability on any given night.
