In a recent chat with Metalhead Marv of This Day In Metal, former Queensrÿche singer Geoff Tate discussed the band’s future.

“I don’t think it’s likely, really, at this point,” the singer said when asked about reuniting with his old band. “I mean, there’s been several offers on the table, getting the band back together. And nothing has inspired anybody to get in the same room or even pick up the phone and talk.”

He added, “So, I think it’s pretty unlikely. In fact, there’s not really a band anymore [Laughs]. With [drummer Scott] Rockenfield gone, it’s just Eddie [Jackson, bass] and Michael [Wilton, guitar] playing, using the name Queensrÿche, of course, which is very valuable. And it’s not really a ‘band band’ as we know it. So, yeah, I don’t really think it’s likely.”

In March 2023, Queensrÿcheguitarist Michael Wilton denied Tate’s claim that the band was offered a lot of money for a reunion tour but some members refused. He told SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, “I don’t know. I didn’t hear about it. I never saw any offers. I know our management never saw any offers. So I have no idea about that.”

In January 2022, on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Tate was asked if he thinks a Queensrÿche reunion could happen. He said, “I’m honestly not really expecting that to happen, basically because we’ve been offered just obscene amounts of money to get back together and do one tour — one tour and we’d never have to tour again.”

The vocalist continued, “And a couple of people in the band turned it down; they’re not interested in doing it. So that would really be, I think, the only motivation that would get everybody together was an obscene amount of money. But that didn’t work, so [laughs] there’s really no hope for it after that, I think… Money is not the motivator, and getting together for an artistic dream isn’t a motivator either, so what do you have? You have nothing.”

Last month, Tate announced the final ‘Operation: Mindcrime’ US tour for 2025. It starts March 18 in Tucson and ends April 25 in Boise, Idaho, then resumes on September 25 in Greenville, ending October 18 in North Tonawanda.
