Gene Simmons Shows Support To The NFL Player Who Was Criticized Due To His Christian Fate

KISS bassist Gene Simmons shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing his opinion about the returning of famous NFL player Tim Tebow back in the field as well as supporting him when it comes to openly living his Christian values which were criticized by a number of people.

As many of you know, Tim Tebow was a former American football quarterback and baseball player whose career involved numerous successes in addition to his personal life which was often attached to his outspoken Christian faith both of which made him a cultural phenomenon.

The famous NFL player is widely known for his religious beliefs for which he preached at schools, prisons, churches, meetings, and conferences especially to youth groups. He even created an iconic move when his picture, while he was kneeling on one knee while praying, went viral with the name, ‘Tebowing.

On the other than, Tebow is a strong advocate for faith-based abstinence, even publicly stating that he had maintained his virginity, and he is a group leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes which is an organization that obligates all leaders to sign a Statement of Sexual Purity which states that sex outside marriage and homosexual acts are unacceptable to God.

Recently, it was announced that the retired Tim Tebow is back in NFL signing a one-year contract with Jacksonville Jaguars and he received major backlash due to some people who have been bothered by some of his Christian values, according to Gene Simmons as he revealed with a recent post on his official Twitter page. Apparently, the KISS bassist supports the newly returned NFL player since he’s only criticized due to the fact that he’s a man of faith.

Here is what Simmons said:

I support Tim Tebow. He was widely criticized and made fun of, simply because he is a man of faith, who believed in his Christian values. Shame on the NFL and the rest of the world for stooping so low.”

While Simmons believed the criticism was because of belief, a number of fans simply stressed the otherwise as Tim Tebow’s religion is irrelevant since it’s his skills as an American football quarterback are questionable which was the main reason why he received backlash in the first place.

Here is what a fan said:

“It’s great that he’s a man of faith but that doesn’t make him a worthy QB in the NFL. If he were, there would have been more teams trying to sign him. That being said, I hope he proves the disbelievers wrong…on both accounts!”

Here is another said:

“Pardon me, but IMHO he was given every opportunity to play the QB position, and didn’t meet the NFL standards as compared to other players. And his faith is a side note. For a comparison look at Russell Wilson and his performance and deep faith.”
