Gene Simmons Says The Confederate Flag Is ‘The Flag Of Slavery And Hate’ During A Heated Argument With Fans
KISS bassist Gene Simmons shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that the Confederate Flag represents slavery and hate while expressing his opinions over a fan’s statement about the Civil War and the Confederate Flag.
As you may know, Gene Simmons shared a post on his official Twitter page a day ago revealing a piece of news about North Carolina which apparently decided to stop issuing Confederate Flag license plates. Apparently, North Carolina transportation officials chose to limit license plates featuring the Confederate battle flag since there is a potential to offend other people who do not share the same views.
For those who may not know what the Confederate Flag is, despite the fact that it is often thought of as a symbol of the Confederate States of America, it was never used as the official flag of the CSA. It actually was only used as a battle flag during the Civil War. Furthermore, the flag is associated with pride in Southern heritage in addition to the states’ rights, historical remembrance of the American Civil War.
After the post of Simmons, a fan shared a tweet stating that the Confederate Flag is a battle flag that was used in Virginia during the Civil War and represents the support of the South. In addition to this, that fan stressed the fact that the south only wanted to break away from the north along with stopping taxation.
Here is what that fan said:
“The Confederate Flag is not what people think it is. Actually, it was a battle flag in Virginia. Look it up and educate yourself. I do not own any Confederate Flag anything, just wanted to let people know. It doesn’t represent anything other than the support of the South…”
“The South wanted to secede from the North and stop taxation from the North. Just thought everyone should know. Have a good day”
After seeing the tweets from his fan, Gene Simmons shared a post on his official Twitter page thanking that fan for clearing up the matter in addition to stating that the Confederate Flag stands for nothing but slavery and hate according to Simmons.
Here is what Simmons said:
“Thanks, Brian. . I taught 6th grade in NYC…Ulysses S. Grant & Robert E. Lee were both classmates at West Point. One went to the south & led troops to fight for slavery as the economic backbone of the south. The Confederate flag is the flag of slavery & hate.”
