In a recently surfaced interview, Gene Simmons reminisced about the last days of Kiss. Sitting down with Guitar Player, Simmons touched on how they created a culture, and resembled himself to the filmmaker George Lucas, best known for creating Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
When asked about what he would miss the most about the tour, he resembled himself to the filmmaker for one reason:
“I feel like George Lucas, where you helped create this thing that becomes not just movies and stuff but a culture. Like, when you go to Comic Con or Star Wars conventions, people dress up and it’s how you look, how you walk, how you talk.”
Following his words, the rocker implied that they made a creation by forming Kiss, and shared his pride with the interviewer:
“We created a culture with Kiss. And after Lucas sold to Disney, that doesn’t mean it goes away. You can see the vestiges, the conventions and the TV shows that continue on, and we intend on keeping Kiss going, but simply not as a touring band, and that comes out of pride.”
Kiss Have New Plans Instead of Retirement

The band’s last show took place on December 2, and after the show, Kiss was thought to be over by the fans. As it turns out, the rockers decided to open a new page. After ending their ‘End of the Road’ farewell tour with a final show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on December 2, the band revealed plans to carry on as digital avatars rather than stopping being a band completely.
The band received criticism for planning to come back as avatars. Some called Kiss a clown show, while some implied it stopped being about the music a long time ago.
Who knows, they might have even more plans except for retiring.
