Lee also expressed the band’s gratitude for the overwhelming response to their tour announcement.

“We are blown away by the response to the announcement we made a few weeks ago that we’re going back on tour,” he continued. “And I cannot tell you how surprised and overwhelmed we are. We are totally blown away by the response.”

The announcement of Anika Nilles as Rush’s touring drummer marks a significant chapter in the legendary band’s history. Rush’s official website reveals that the Fifty Something Tour will begin on June 7, 2026, in Los Angeles. The tour will span multiple shows across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This reunion tour represents the first major Rush tour since the passing of their original and iconic drummer Neil Peart in 2020.

Anika Nilles is a German drummer, composer, and producer who was introduced publicly in October 2025 as the band’s new touring drummer. WJLX 101.5 reported that Nilles described the response as “quite overwhelming.” She thanked the band and fans for their support and trust. Her selection reflects the band’s commitment to honoring Neil Peart’s legacy while bringing fresh energy to their live performances.

The Fifty Something Tour will feature a unique format designed to celebrate Rush’s extensive catalog. Reports on the tour structure indicate that the band plans to play two sets each night featuring varied setlists. This allows fans to experience different combinations of Rush’s classic songs. The band also hints at adding other musicians to expand their sound live, giving Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson more creative freedom on stage.

The warm reception from the Rush fanbase demonstrates the band’s enduring connection with their audience. Both Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans for welcoming Anika Nilles into the Rush family. This sets a positive tone for what promises to be a memorable tour celebrating over 50 years of Rush music.
