Geddy Lee has broken his silence on his recent health struggles, sharing a personal update after Rush was forced to postpone their reunion shows.
The postponement affected the band’s June 30 and July 2 performances at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Lee was diagnosed with laryngitis and bronchitis, prompting the delay. In his statement, Lee addressed his recovery and offered reassurance to fans ahead of the rescheduled dates.
“Thanks so much to everyone for all of your well wishes! I’m feeling so much better and hard at work with Dottie in the studio hitting all the high notes and getting ready to return to Texas this Saturday July 11th and Monday July 13th!” Lee said.
The rescheduled shows are set for July 11 and July 13 in Fort Worth, Texas. The dates mark Rush’s anticipated return to the stage following the health-related delay.
The Fort Worth postponement is not an isolated incident. It is the third time the band has had to push back dates since the tour launched, painting a turbulent picture of what has otherwise been a landmark comeback for one of rock’s most celebrated acts.
The reunion tour, dubbed Fifty Something, had its origins in an almost offhand moment. The announcement came during a private Rock and Roll Hall of Fame event in Cleveland in October 2025, when Lee responded to a fan’s question by simply saying, “I kind of think we should tour next year.” What followed was anything but small. The tour expanded from an initial seven-city run into a massive 86-concert trek spanning North America, South America, and Europe, with the final show scheduled for April 2027 in Helsinki, Finland.
The Fifty Something tour kicked off on June 7, 2026. The Fort Worth delay represents the third postponement in less than a month since the run began. At the time of the cancellation, guitarist Alex Lifeson noted that Lee was “barely able to speak, let alone sing” during their sound check, underscoring just how serious the illness had become.
Despite the setbacks, Lee’s latest update signals a swift recovery. His mention of working “with Dottie in the studio” suggests he has been actively rehabilitating his voice ahead of the rescheduled Texas dates. This reflects the band’s determination to deliver on their commitments to fans who have waited years for this reunion.
The Fifty Something tour carries significant weight beyond its scale. Rush has been off the road since their R40 farewell tour in 2015, and the reunion serves as a tribute to the late Neil Peart, the band’s legendary drummer who passed away in January 2020.
