REO Speedwagon’s bassist Bruce Hall has announced a special addition to their upcoming reunion concert lineup through a Facebook post.
“Ecstatic to announce the addition of Gary’s awesome son, Eric Richrath, to the lineup!” Hall stated. “He was able to rearrange his travel plans to join us on June 14th…the day before Father’s Day.”
“I know his Dad will be smiling down and grateful his ‘Uncles’ Alan, Neal and Bruce will be by his side while we celebrate Gary’s legacy,” he continued.
Hall had previously revealed that REO Speedwagon members would reunite for a benefit concert, except for Kevin Cronin. Eric Richrath’s participation now adds a meaningful connection to the band’s history through his father’s legacy.
The emotional reunion carries special significance due to Gary Richrath’s profound impact on REO Speedwagon’s success and musical identity.
CBS News highlighted Gary Richrath’s role in creating some of the band’s biggest hits. His work included the Top 5 Billboard single ‘Take It on the Run,’ which established REO Speedwagon’s prominence in the rock scene.
PS Audio documented the legendary guitarist’s broader contributions to the band. His distinctive guitar work provided REO Speedwagon with unique credibility during the competitive 1980s rock landscape. His sound continues to influence their live performances today.
Los Angeles Times reported that Gary Richrath’s final performance with REO Speedwagon occurred in 2013. He joined a benefit concert for Illinois tornado victims. This commitment to charitable causes lives on through the upcoming reunion event.
Eric Richrath’s addition to the June 14th concert creates a touching tribute. The timing, just before Father’s Day, perfectly bridges the band’s storied past with its present while honoring one of its most influential members.
