Gary Holt To Jeff Hannemann: ‘You Are Always Missed’

Exodus guitarist Gary Holt shared a post on his official Instagram page celebrating the 57th birthday of Slayer late lead guitarist Jeff Hanneman by stating that he is always missed and a legend in addition to revealing an old picture of the two.

As many of you know, Gary Holt temporarily performed with Slayer back in 2011, filling in for Jeff Hanneman for the Big 4 Concert in California on April 23 and Fun Fun Fun Festival in Texas on November 6 when Hanneman was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis.

Two years after, when Jeff Hanneman passed away on May 2, 2013, Holt became a permanent member of Slayer up until the band’s break-up following the ending of their 2018-2019 farewell tour.

Recently, Gary Holt shared a post on his official Instagram page expressing his opinions about Jeff Hanneman by stating that he is always missed and a true legend while celebrating the birthday of the late guitarist. In addition to this, Holt also revealed an old picture of the two together in his post which was quite emotional for the fans.

Here is what Holt said:

“Happy birthday Jeff Hanneman you are now and always missed. LEGEND”

As you may recall, Jeff Hanneman was diagnosed with ‘flesh-eating disease’ back in 2011 which was the reason why he was temporarily replaced with Gary Holt. Unfortunately, Hanneman passed away due to liver failure three years after, on May 9, 2013, at the age of 49.
