Fred Durst recently commented on Limp Bizkit’s new touring bassist, addressing the transition in a statement shared on Instagram.

The statement came after the band’s first performance without late bassist Sam Rivers in Mexico City on November 29. This marked a significant moment for the legendary nu-metal group.

Sam Rivers, the co-founding bassist, passed away on October 18, 2025. The band subsequently sought a replacement for their Latin American “Loserville Gringo Papi Tour 2025.” Durst expressed his gratitude toward the band’s new bassist, Kid Not (born Richie Buxton), who stepped into the role.

“Richie, thank you for carrying the torch for Sam,” Durst said.

The Mexico City performance was a poignant occasion that reflected the band’s deep respect for their fallen member. Before the show began, the band paid tribute to Rivers with a video package featuring clips from throughout his career. Band members were seated onstage watching the screen that displayed “Sam Rivers, our brother forever” and “Sam Rivers, we love you forever.” This emotional tribute underscored the significance of the moment for both the band and their fans.

Chaoszine reported that Kid Not (Richie Buxton) was selected to fill the bassist position during the band’s ongoing Latin American tour. The transition marked a critical juncture for Limp Bizkit as they continued their “Loserville Gringo Papi Tour 2025” without their founding member.

Sam Rivers’ passing in October left a significant void in the band’s lineup. Consequence noted that Rivers had been an integral part of Limp Bizkit since the band’s formation. His contributions to the nu-metal genre were immeasurable. The decision to continue touring with a new bassist demonstrated the band’s commitment to honoring Rivers’ legacy while moving forward.

The Mexico City show served as a testament to both the band’s resilience and their commitment to their fans. Blabbermouth documented that the performance was a successful one. Richie Buxton stepped seamlessly into the role and helped the band deliver a memorable show. The tribute to Sam Rivers and the warm welcome extended to Buxton reflected the band’s unity during this challenging transition.
