Mayhem vocalist Attila Csihar, and the late Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison spent several years playing in the black-metal supergroup Sinsaenum. The vocalist recently took to Instagram to share with fans a cover of ‘Assimilate’ which also happened to be Joey’s last recording before his passing in 2021.
Here’s what Attila’s caption read:
“Check out our ‘Assimilate’ cover with Alien Vampires! (Between us, it’s Joey Jordison’s last recording. RIP my Blood!)”
The vocalist worked with Alien Vampires to bring the Skinny Puppy classic cover to life. Besides working together with in Sinsaenum, Attila and Jordison worked together in another supergroup called Electhrone which also featured members of Alien Vampires.
The summer of 2021, Joey died in his sleep at 46. The drummer had to leave Slipknot in 2013 after being in the band for 18 years because he couldn’t play drums due to Transverse myelitis. Several of the drummers industry friends shared their condolences on social media including Corey Taylor.
Here’s what Corey said about his late bandmate:
“The goddamn tragedy of it is that we did everything we could to try and be there, not only for him but for Paul Gray. I mean, we would rally, and we would rally, and we would rally, and it’s just a shame, man. The world is less cool without him in it.”
