Foo Fighters recently shared their first social media post featuring former drummer Josh Freese following his departure from the band. They posted the content on their Instagram account.
The band posted an Instagram story that included a photo from their 2023 Glastonbury Festival performance. The photo featured Freese among the band members. The post was accompanied by a simple caption.
“Happy Glasto Weekend!” the band wrote in their Instagram story.
The post marks the first time the band has shared content including Freese since his split from the group. The photo was taken following their Glastonbury performances in 2023, when Freese was still an active member of the band.
This social media activity comes amid ongoing speculation about the circumstances surrounding Freese’s departure from the band. It also follows his subsequent public response to the situation.
SF Chronicle reported that Freese joined Foo Fighters in May 2023 after the death of Taylor Hawkins. The band recently dismissed him with no clear explanation given. The veteran drummer, known for his work with numerous high-profile acts, responded to his firing with characteristic humor by sharing a list of possible reasons for his dismissal.
Ultimate Classic Rock detailed Freese’s tongue-in-cheek explanations. Among them were his habit of whistling the band’s hit “My Hero” nonstop for a week on tour and demanding to start rehearsals with 20-minute cowbell sound baths. He also joked that his love for poodles might have been “getting to be a bit much” for the band members.
Despite the abrupt nature of his departure, American Songwriter noted that Freese expressed no ill will toward Foo Fighters and thanked the band for the opportunity. The drummer emphasized that his freelance career has always involved moving between different musical projects. He is taking the change in stride.
The Instagram post featuring Freese suggests that despite the professional split, there may be no personal animosity between the drummer and his former bandmates. The band chose to include him in their nostalgic Glastonbury weekend celebration.
