The documentary, titled “Fleetwood Mac: The Chain”, will feature Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. All five are Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees.

Apple TV announced the project with the statement: “Some bonds can never be broken. Fleetwood Mac: The Chain, a new documentary film, is streaming January 29 on Apple TV.”

Fans reacted to the news with enthusiasm. One wrote: “This is the best news of all time.”

Another added: “I can’t wait to watch a complete car wreck create the best album of all time.”

The documentary comes as a major moment for fans of one of rock music’s most enduring bands. The announcement marks a significant step in the band’s official historical record.

The documentary is timed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Fleetwood Mac’s best-selling album Rumours, which was released on February 4, 1977. The recording sessions for Rumours took place during a turbulent time for the band members, who were dealing with personal breakups and struggled with heavy drug use. Both band members John and Christine McVie, as well as Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, were going through relationship breakdowns during the sessions. Mick Fleetwood was also experiencing the dissolution of his own marriage. The album went on to sell more than 40 million copies worldwide.

The title of the documentary, “The Chain,” is taken from the only song on Rumours credited to all five members. The song captures the complicated yet enduring bond at the heart of Fleetwood Mac, and its iconic lyrics represent the respect and connection that persisted through the band’s turbulent rise to superstardom.

Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have been hinting at the project for some time, after earlier confirming that their former feud is behind them. Buckingham described the documentary as “a very circular healing process for all of us.” The film will include never-before-seen footage and exclusive new interviews as the musicians reflect on their more than 50-year history together.
