His podcast, ‘This Little Light,’ will feature conversations with an impressive lineup of musical legends, delving into their personal journeys and experiences with learning and playing music.

This new venture builds upon Flea’s long-standing commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians through his non-profit music school, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. The podcast aims to raise awareness and support for the school while offering a unique opportunity for listeners to learn from some of the most respected names in the industry. By sharing these stories, Flea hopes to inspire young musicians and show them the diverse paths that can lead to a life in music.

In the Instagram post, Flea shared a video announcing the podcast, providing a glimpse of what listeners can expect from the series. The caption, which accompanied the video, offered further details about the podcast’s content, its mission to benefit the Silverlake Conservatory, and the incredible lineup of guests who will be featured.

Here’s the caption in its entirety:

“Hi. I made a podcast bout learning music; I spoke to a bunch of musicians I respect about how they got in deep. How did they learn to swim? It’s all to benefit Silverlake Conservatory. I hope you like it. John, Anthony, Cynthia Erivo, Patti Smith, Margo Price, Cory Henry, Rick Rubin, Earl Sweatshirt, Stuart Copeland, Sheila E, Finneas, Rivers Cuomo, Thundercat, and others I’m spacing on right now. Hope it is of assistance! It comes out tomorrow!!! Also, I just figured out how to put the link in the bio.”

In the video itself, Flea discussed the motivation behind creating the podcast and its connection to the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. He emphasized that the podcast is not only a means to support the school but also a platform to explore different approaches to music education.

Here’s what he said:

“This is Flea for This Little Light: a podcast about falling in love with music. I started a non-profit music school about 20 years ago called the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. And the reason that I started doing this podcast was to benefit the school, but it’s specifically also about music education.

Every single person, I meet so many musicians, from someone who doesn’t even know what a scale is or an eighth note to someone who plays with the philharmonic or someone who is a deeply sophisticated jazz musician. Everybody has a different way. Everybody has a different educational path, and every single one of them is so interesting, fascinating to me, and valid.”

As fans eagerly anticipate the release of ‘This Little Light,’ it’s clear that Flea’s passion for music and dedication to education remain as strong as ever. By bringing together some of the most influential artists of our time, this podcast promises to be a treasure trove of wisdom and inspiration for aspiring musicians and music lovers alike.
