Faster Pussycat singer Taime Downe has spoken publicly about the tragic death of his fiancée Kimberly Burch, who recently died after falling from a cruise ship. He shared his thoughts in an interview with SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk.
Downe addressed the circumstances surrounding Burch’s death. He shared his feelings about the role of substance abuse in the tragedy.
“So I blame alcohol and pills on it,” Downe said. “There’s no way I’d touch booze. For me, that’s just completely disgusting in my brain, you know what I mean? So I’ve got some hatred for booze, ’cause I loved the hell out of Kimberly, and it was just hard to deal with. We spent basically nine years together.”
The singer also reflected on the complexity of the situation. He spoke about its impact on those close to them.
“I don’t wanna get into what her psyche was at the time, but there’s a lot of things that make up people’s lives at a certain time of their life,” he continued. “It’s been hard on everybody.”
The tragic incident has brought attention to the broader circumstances surrounding cruise ship safety. It has also highlighted the legal complexities that often follow such cases.
Injury Matters reported that the incident occurred on the first night of an ’80s-themed cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas, approximately 20 miles from Freeport, Bahamas. Security footage reportedly captured Burch’s final moments, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
The circumstances leading to the fall have been subject to scrutiny. Injury Matters noted that Burch’s mother mentioned her daughter’s fall followed an argument with Downe. However, Nassau police have cleared the Faster Pussycat frontman of any wrongdoing in connection with the incident.
The case has raised questions about potential liability and legal avenues available to Burch’s family. Injury Matters indicated there are ongoing discussions about the legal implications of the tragedy and what recourse the family might have in seeking justice.
The couple had been together for nine years before the tragic incident occurred. Downe’s recent statements mark his first public comments about the loss of his longtime partner.
