Amy Lee from Evanescence shared her thoughts on new music releases in a recent interview with Rock Antenne.
“I don’t have a plan, but it will be songs before a full record,” Lee explained. “I think it’s nice to be able to do that more and more. I am going to make an album. We love to make an album. I think our fans expect that. And I enjoy like putting a full catalog of songs together.”
“But at the same time,e I feel like we’ve gotten to a point where so many of us, I myself included, listen to music in songs more than we listen to music in albums,” she continued. “And it gives each song, not all of them maybe but at least a few of them, their own moment to really be the one thing to focus on and I think that’s cool.”
This approach reflects a significant shift in Evanescence’s release strategy. The band has built upon their recent experiences with modern music distribution.
Music Week documented the band’s successful experimentation with incremental releases during their latest album, ‘The Bitter Truth.’ They released singles like ‘Wasted On You’ throughout the pandemic period.
The band’s independence has played a crucial role in their creative process. Rolling Stone India highlighted Lee’s emphasis on how their label-free environment has enhanced creative freedom and musical experimentation.
Billboard revealed that the band’s strategy of releasing singles has strengthened fan engagement. This approach has created deeper connections with their audience in the streaming era.
Evanescence plans to release their new single, ‘Afterlife,’ in 2025. Additional details about upcoming releases will follow.
