Eric Clapton Patches Things Up With Daughter Ruth Who’s Going Through A Tough Time

Eric Clapton’s daughter Ruth Clapton recently spoke to Daily Mail and opened up about the difficult times she’s been going through after her decision to get a divorce from her long time partner Dean Bartlett, and revealed the immense emotional support that she’s been getting from her family members, including her father.

Even though this might seem like a mundane thing for some of you, this hasn’t always been the case for the Claptons. Back in 2015, the famous rockstar had a huge fight with his daughter Ruth and she had announced through her Twitter account that the two don’t have a relationship anymore.

Why Did Eric Clapton Have A Fight With His Daughter Ruth?

The world found out about Eric’s daughter Ruth in 1991 after she attended the funeral of his four-year-old son who fell from the 49th floor. He had credited Ruth as one of the people who helped him out the most during this difficult time and their relationship grew stronger through the years until 2015.

In 2015, Ruth shared some photos of Eric Clapton attending his 70th birthday dressed as Kermit the Frog. She then posted some shots from his luxury home and his cars which angered Eric who scolded his daughter for publicizing his private life. Things apparently went south as shortly after that Ruth announced that they ‘no longer have a relationship‘ with her father.

However, recently Ruth opened up about her relationship with her father for the first time after six years while talking about the challenging times she’s been through due to her divorce. She said that her family has been giving her the ‘best support‘ and that she’s very glad that they are there for her.

Here’s what Ruth said during the interview:

“I’ve gone through a really rough time. I’m about to navigate my way through a divorce – a decision that neither of us has taken lightly. All we want for each other is happiness, even if that can’t be achieved together.”

When asked about her father she said:

“I’m always checking in with him. He’s doing really good, I’m very grateful for that. He’s itching to get back out there like all musicians.”

Her positive words about her father made a lot of people smile as many feared that estrangement would be irreparable. However, it seems like the two are on good terms now, and bearing in mind that Ruth recently started pursuing a career in music too, we might even see an interesting collaboration.
