Elton John Sells The Rights To His New Documentary To Disney For About $30 Million

Elton John recently sold his upcoming documentaries’ rights to Disney Original Documentary and Disney+ for a $30 million deal.

Four years ago, Elton John announced that he would be retiring from touring to spend more time with his children and family. He then revealed he would embark on a three-year farewell tour. Tickets for the tour went on sale on February 24, and soon after the sale began, tickets for the first 60 shows were sold out.

On September 8, 2018, Elton John began the tour dubbed ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road.‘ He hit the road intending to have his final tour that would consist of over 300 performances all around the world. Moreover, the name and poster of ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ directly reference John’s 1973 album titled ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.’

Recently, a new documentary titled ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances And The Years That Made His Legend’ has been announced. The documentary will focus on Elton John’s ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road,’ and fans will also have a chance to see exclusive concert footage from the past 50 years in the documentary.

Co-directed by R.J. Cutler and John’s husband, David Furnish, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ is expected to get a festival run and limited theatrical release. The musician recently sold the rights to the documentary to Disney Original Documentary and Disney+ for around $30 million.

‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances And The Years That Made His Legend’ will be a legendary way of bidding farewell to the music scene for John. Moreover, it will allow the fans to watch exclusive interviews, performances, handwritten journals, and present-day footage of John and his family and friends.
