Eddie Van Halen’s widow Janie paid tribute to their late dog, Kody in a recent Instagram post.
“A year ago today I faced one of the worst days of my life and had to say goodbye to my little boy, Kody Van Halen,” she wrote in the caption, along with some photos of Kody. “Today I celebrate all that Kody was to my husband and I.”
She went on to say, “Kody was our baby, our dog child, our companion at home and on the road. He held us together and brought us comfort through our hardest of times. As Pomeranians tend to do, his unique and funny personality brought smiles to all who he met.”
“He was such a special soul who loved to steal socks, always had a mischievous glint in his eyes, and demanded to be carried and held at all times. I am honored and grateful that Kody chose us to be his human parents and not a day goes by that I don’t miss him,” Janie shared.
Van Halen concluded the post, “Thank you my baby bear for all of the happiness and comfort you brought us. You are so loved and so missed.
I know daddy’s got you until I can see you both again.”
Last year, Janie shared on Instagram that Kody had passed away. Kody was one of Janie’s last connections to her late husband, Eddie Van Halen. She said goodbye to Kody, writing, “Sweet dreams, my baby bear. Thank you for being the light of my life for 13 years. You brought us and everyone who met you joy, love, and happiness.”
“My heart is absolutely broken, but I know you are at peace and in heaven with Daddy and I know that he will take good care of you. Until we see each other again. Mommy loves her sweetest little boy in the whole wide world,” Janie also stated.
Kody has a Facebook page and gets plenty of attention. He was often seen with Eddie. The late guitarist also took Kody on tour.
