Draven Bennington recently sat down with HollywoodLife and disclosed how he wanted to change people’s views on his late father, Chester while wishing they could focus on things other than the rocker’s tragic end.

The young Bennington recently collaborated with Paramount and appeared in the new docuseries, ‘Family Legacy,’ a show that’ll allow you to take a peek into the life of celebrity’s children and see what they’re doing with their careers. So, with the platform recently releasing the documentary, Draven’s also been giving interviews and sharing his fair share of opinions on the best way to celebrate his late father’s life.

For him, it’s both endearing and challenging to have a father like Chester, who millions still love and adore even years after his passing. However, things could be tough when people’s curiosities take the best of them, and they keep fixating on the late frontman’s tragic end rather than celebrating all his accomplishments.

Bennington felt that there was more to his father than the last few years of his life, as he wished fans and mainstream audiences would focus on the Linkin Park icon’s celebrated career and share loving memories of the late rocker whenever they encountered Draven. So, it was apparent that the young artist was on a mission to change how people remembered his father.

Draven’s words on how he wanted people to remember his father:

“I think the best thing is when people are reaching out to me and just letting me know how much he’s changed their life through his music. I don’t know why, but that makes me really happy. What he did and his creative outlet had such an impact on so many different people, and it was able to just save so many people.

I think that is the number one thing that I want people to remember him for, and then also just the amount of good times. I kind of want to change the narrative… I think that we focus too much sometimes on the very end of everything when there was his whole life, and he had so many amazing things happen.

The text messages that I get of people saying, ‘I was backstage, and we had the best conversation with your dad, and he was so sweet.’ That’s the stuff that I want people to remember. I don’t want people to sit and focus on the end all the time. Although I do think it’s a good conversation to have. I think it’s a necessary conversation to have, but shouldn’t be the thing we remember him as.”

So, although Bennington thought it was necessary to talk about mental health and his father’s passing, he wished that wouldn’t be the only thing people would remember his father for since his legacy had so much to offer.
