Dolly Parton Shares Her ‘Sort Of’ Retiring Decision

Dolly Parton recently revealed on Ken Bruce’s Greatest Hits Radio show that she would rather ‘die’ than give up performing live and retire. The country singer turned rocker expressed:

“I would never retire! I would hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday – and hopefully, one I’ve written. That’s how I hope to go. I don’t have much of a choice in that, but in the meantime, I’m going to make hay while the sun shines.”

Even though Dolly shared that she didn’t plan to stop performing live, she explained her plans for her extensive touring days. She said:

“I’m not touring anymore, but I will continue to do special shows here and there now and then, like a long weekend or festival shows. But as far as touring, I think those days are pretty much behind me… you have to stay gone so long on a tour to make it productive and prosperous, and that’s a lot of time at my age – I ain’t got no years to waste!”

Dolly is gearing up to release her rock album ‘Rockstar’ this coming November. Her new album will feature famous names like Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, and Sting, as well as Miley Cyrus.

Considering her new venture in the rock scene, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will take the stage to promote her new album. Just like her live performance two months ago when she performed her new track ‘World On Fire’ and closed the show at the 2023 ACM Awards. You can watch her live performance below.
