It’s almost easier to blend in with all the wanna-be Dolly Partons’ at a look-alike contest, as the singer dresses to the nines wherever she goes and has a very distinctive look. Parton shared her experience at a Dolly Parton look-alike contest with Jimmy Fallon, where she didn’t win but had a ball.
“Yeah. I thought it’d be fun,” said the Queen of Country, sharing that she attended the contest to have a good laugh with her friends. “They give you free drinks. You don’t really win anything. So, some friends of ours thought it’d be funny, so I just over-exaggerated; I put a bigger beauty mark, bigger hair, bigger, you know, everything. And I walked across the stage and got a little trickle of applause.”
The more exaggerated, the better, but apparently, the judges didn’t think so, as Parton said, “So I lost the contest, but we had a big time because of it. They didn’t even consider me. It was Halloween, you know; everybody was out.”
What makes the situation even funnier is that nobody knew she was the real Dolly Parton because everyone was dressed up as her. So no one recognized the singer as the real deal. Even though Parton couldn’t win as herself in the look-alike contest, she and her friends got a good laugh from the results, not to mention a funny story to tell at gatherings.
