Dolly Parton Reacts To Jeff Bezos Giving Her $100 Million

With being inducted into the Rock Hall after many debates, and now receiving Jeff Bezos’ Courage & Civility Award, Dolly Parton is definitely living one of the highlights of her career. She accepted the award in a recent ceremony, and the singer assured everyone that she would use the award money, $100 million, to do good.

The Courage & Civility Award is given to community leaders who have honored their careers by always finding solutions and helping others. The prize money, $100 million, is then given to the charities the awardee wishes to donate. This year’s recipient, Dolly Parton, took her award from Jeff Bezos himself, and she emphasized the importance of charity.

“Wow, did you say $100 million?” joked Dolly as she accepted her award. “When people are in a position to help, you should help. And I know I’ve always said, ‘I try to put my money where my heart is.’ And I think you [Bezos] do the same thing. I will do my best to do good things with this money. Thank you, Jeff.”

Bezos also congratulated Dolly on Twitter. “We’ve just announced a new Courage and Civility award recipient,  Dolly Parton, who leads with her heart and will put this $100 million award to great use helping so many people. She joins prior awardees Van Jones and Chef Jose Andres. Congrats, Dolly.”

Parton replied to Jeff’s tweet by thanking him once again. She wrote, “I try to put my money where my heart is. I will do my best to do good things with this money. Thank you, Jeff Bezos.”

The singer has been known for her charity work over the years of her career and has often emphasized why communities need to help one another. As for those who are in positions to give away, Dolly Parton believes they should donate to charities.
