Dire Straits Guitarist Passes Away At 68, John Illsley And Alan Clark Bid Him Farewell

‘The other guitarist in Dire Straits’ Jack Sonni passed away on August 30. Dire Straits announced the news on their Twitter page without any explanation regarding his death. Their tweet read:

“Jack Sonni, Rest In Peace, Dire Straits”

The band members also paid tribute from their social media pages. The group’s keyboardist Alan Clark posted on his Facebook page, sharing his feelings:

“It’s with a heavy heart that I have to say my friend and Dire Straits’ colleague has left us. Rest in peace, amigo.”::

The bassist John Illsley mentioned his participation in Dire Straits’ 1985-86 ‘Brothers in Arms’ tour in his own post:

“So sorry to hear the sad news that Jack Sonni has died, we loved having him with us on the ‘Brothers in Arms’ tour, fond memories. R.I.P Jack”

Although his cause of death is unknown, it was posted on the band’s official Facebook page that Jack was having some health issues, two days prior to his death. The post read:

“Dear fans, unfortunately, Jack Sonni will not be able to participate in our next gigs because of health problems. Jack get better soon, we are waiting for you! With love, the DSL family”
