The announcement confirms a forthcoming Dreampeace album titled “Harmonic Dharma,” arriving Friday, October 16. The release is framed around World Mental Health Day.

“In recognition of World Mental Health Day, we’re excited to announce Devin’s forthcoming Dreampeace album, ‘Harmonic Dharma,’ arriving Friday October 16th,” the statement reads. “Having struggled with insomnia for many years, Devin created DreamPeace as a way to encourage restful sleep and, hopefully, enrich the lives of others who struggle to unwind.”

The post also detailed how the album will reach fans.

“We decided to release this new DreamPeace album as a limited-edition CD, available on the Metamorphosis tour,” it continued. “Any remaining copies are now being offered to Devin’s Patreon community first, ahead of the album’s release on all streaming platforms on October 16th.”

The announcement follows Townsend’s earlier comments about the pressures that shaped his decision to perform live again.

“Financial Armageddon. Yeah, we lost a ton of money off of ‘The Moth’ show, for a number of reasons, which we’re still trying to remedy it, but it’s been over a year,” Townsend said. “But the company I did a lot of the work for it went bankrupt, and so we lost what our projected revenue was for that year. So I just found myself in a situation where the options for me to do other things for money just seemed limited. So I know it’s not a particularly romantic notion, but it’s the truth.”

Townsend went on to describe several personal losses that compounded the situation.

“My dog passed away. I split up with a partner of 36 years. I mean, it’s like all these things have been fucking devastating. And you’re up on stage,” he said. “So I think that the one thing that I’ve recognized through this is it’s, like, well, I have to do this, just on a practical level. But on another level, it’s funny how these things force you into a, a position where you have to contend with yourself.”

The album arrives while Townsend is still on the road. It follows a difficult stretch that changed his plans for the past year and a half.

Dreampeace grew out of Townsend’s long struggle with insomnia. The limited-edition CD first went on sale during the Metamorphosis tour, a 23-date run across 10 European countries. The tour is a solo acoustic and storytelling show, not a conventional full-band outing. Remaining physical copies went to his Patreon community before the streaming launch.

The tour itself marks a reversal. Townsend had announced an “indefinite” break from live performance. The losses from “The Moth” and the bankruptcy of the company tied to the production wiped out his projected revenue and left him with limited options. That pressure pushed him back on the road sooner than expected.

Townsend says he hopes the album offers listeners the same comfort it gave him.

“I hope it brings you the peace it has brought me.”
