Splat! marks the band’s newest studio effort. ‘Diablo’ offers an early look at what fans can expect from the record ahead of its July release.

Blabbermouth reported that ‘Diablo’ is the second single from Splat!, following the album’s lead single ‘Arrogant Boy.’ The track features country star Keith Urban on second guitar and is described as a classic Deep Purple hard-rock song built around riff, groove, and the band chemistry captured in the studio.

Frontman Ian Gillan offered his own take on the song’s message. As Cool 103.5 noted, Gillan said the song is ‘all about taking chances,’ encouraging listeners to do something exciting and step outside their routine — a sentiment that aligns with the lyric’s call to live boldly.

Louder Sound noted that Splat! will be Deep Purple’s 24th studio album. The record was produced by Bob Ezrin and will be available in multiple formats, including a limited box set featuring extra vinyl and bonus material.

The song’s accompanying visual concept fits into what the band describes as one of their ‘surreal new story worlds.’ It centers on a heroine navigating a dangerous and fantastical setting — a fitting backdrop for a track that dares its listeners to embrace the unknown. Splat! is due out on July 3 via earMUSIC.
