Dee Snider recently addressed Sebastian Bach taking over vocal duties for Twisted Sister’s upcoming reunion shows. He shared his thoughts in a statement posted on Twitter.
The Twisted Sister frontman explained his decision to step back from performing due to health concerns. He expressed his support for Bach’s involvement.
“For a retired 71 year old, I’m great. But I’ve only got so much tread left on these tires,” Snider said. “I decided to use it for the rest of my journey…and not burn them up on stage trying to prove I’m as good as I ever was. I can live with that choice. I would’ve been a shadow of my former self out there anyway.”
Snider also clarified misconceptions about his health situation. He voiced his approval of his replacement.
“The story of my retirement for health reasons ran wild! I’m not dying. (No, not never!) Just can’t do the things I used to do. I’m cool with it. I have a great life!” he continued. “And I totally approve of Sebastian Bach stepping in for me. He’s a true fan and will honor what I did with every show!”
The statement comes as fans had been speculating about Snider’s health following news of Bach’s involvement in the reunion performances.
This development marks a significant transition for the iconic heavy metal band. Bach prepares to fill the shoes of one of metal’s most recognizable frontmen.
Parade reported that Snider’s retirement stems from specific health challenges including degenerative arthritis and heart issues. These conditions have made performing increasingly difficult for the 71-year-old vocalist. They have forced him to make the difficult decision to step away from the demanding physical requirements of live performances.
The selection of Sebastian Bach as Snider’s replacement was not a last-minute decision. Loudwire revealed that the band members had pre-selected stand-ins like Bach years earlier, around their 2014 reunion planning. This shows the foresight and preparation that went into this transition.
Bach will be taking over vocal duties for select fall 2026 shows. Confirmed dates include the Alaska State Fair on September 4. Fox News noted that the former Skid Row vocalist will front the band for these upcoming shows following Snider’s retirement due to health challenges.
The partnership between Bach and Twisted Sister represents a meeting of two significant forces in 1980s heavy metal. Bach brings his own legendary vocal prowess to carry forward the band’s legacy while Snider focuses on preserving his health for the remainder of his journey.
