Dee Snider, the legendary Twisted Sister frontman, recently shared a disturbing paranormal experience involving his wife during a Halloween ghost hunting session in New Orleans. The incident was discussed in detail on Acid for Squares.
Snider described himself as a skeptic in a family of believers. He acknowledged that his experiences have made him more open-minded about the supernatural.
“In a household of believers and open-minded individuals, I’m the renowned cynic and disbeliever,” Snider said. “This said, after years of spending time with my family and experiencing many of the things they’ve experienced, I’m a little more of a believer than I was.”
The incident occurred during a Halloween trip to New Orleans’ French Quarter. Snider, his wife Suzette, and family members joined professional ghost hunters for a paranormal investigation.
“Halloween, I think it was a year or two ago, we checked something off the bucket list when we decided to go to New Orleans for Halloween night,” he explained. “As part of this experience, we wanted to do some ghost hunting. We met up with these ghost hunters who took us to very specific places.”
The ghost hunters attempted to summon a spirit they referred to as “Gary.” The spirit had a reputation for being physically aggressive, particularly toward women.
“When he started calling for Gary to join us, the wife Ghostbuster started getting very uncomfortable,” Snider recalled. “She goes, ‘He makes me uncomfortable.’ He goes, ‘He’s a little strange and he’s physical.’ Well, they explained that historically he’s attracted to women and he has been known to pull their hair or touch them in some way.”
The ghost hunters warned the group about Gary’s behavior. They referenced a previous incident where the spirit allegedly choked a man who objected to his wife being touched.
“They spoke of a recent group that came where a husband and wife were there and the wife was being touched by Gary. Her hair was being pulled and the husband got upset. Well, Gary, according to them, started choking the husband and it didn’t stop and they had to get EMTs,” Snider said.
The situation escalated dramatically when Gary was introduced to Snider’s wife Suzette.
“Gary starts molesting my wife, is feeling her breasts and my wife has done ceremonies like this before. She’s never experienced anything like this,” Snider stated. “The next thing Gary’s doing is choking her. So now he is choking her and he is molesting her at the same time.”
Snider admitted he held back from intervening. He cited both fear and respect for his wife’s desire for an authentic spiritual experience.
“I’m holding back because I don’t want to be choked out of me and my wife wanted this spiritual experience in the first place,” he explained. “He eventually lets up. They call Gary off. They say, ‘Hey, Gary, come on, man. Stop.’ And this is very tangible evidence that not only is it there, but there is a crossover point where we can be physically affected by them.”
The experience appears to have further shifted Snider’s perspective on the paranormal. He considers it tangible evidence of supernatural phenomena.
This is not the first time Snider has publicly discussed his encounters with the paranormal. The rock icon has a documented history of sharing ghost stories and supernatural experiences with audiences.
