When it comes to choosing the greatest artist of all time, it would undoubtedly be a tough call for any music lover since we admire and respect so many musicians. Yet I guess we can still agree on some outstanding names like Jimi Hendrix, who reshaped guitar playing with his remarkable skills. As he recently revealed on Twitter, the late guitarist also has a special place in Dee Snider’s heart.
A Twitter account that shares daily music content asked its followers who the most talented musician of all time was. Upon seeing that, a user tagged Dee Snider and wrote, “There are literally hundreds… I can’t just pick one and drop the subject! Dee Snider, can you please help me out over here?”
The singer didn’t remain indifferent to this request and sharply replied, “Jimi Hendrix.” Then, another user wrote in response to Snider, “I would say Prince, but I don’t really know what I’m talking about.” The rocker then said, appreciating the answer, “Not a bad call, but he was a huge Hendrix fan.”
Following these interactions, another Twitter user wrote as a piece of advice, “Obligatory reminder (not for Dee!) that when people told Hendrix how great he was, he said, ‘If you think I’m good, you ought to listen to this guy Leslie West.’ If some of you younger folks don’t know who that is, go play some Mountain.” Snider replied again, “Leslie was incredible.”
Albeit a less recognized name than Hendrix, Leslie West left a mark on the music scene with his powerful presence as a singer and fantastic guitar sound. The late musician is regarded as one of the creators of heavy metal. With his band Mountain, West delivered one of the most memorable gigs at the Woodstock festival. It is also known that he personally met Jimi and even played with him at a club.
