Dee Snider Names The Song He Wrote In Jimmy Page’s Bathroom

You never know when or where inspiration will strike, and a melody or a lyric will come flowing out. Dee Snider recently tweeted that his creative juices started flowing when he got into Jimmy Page’s studio bathroom, and Twisted Sister’s ‘The Price’ was the outcome of the few minutes he had to himself.

A fan recently asked the frontman on Twitter whether he wrote Twisted Sister’s ‘The Price’ in a bathroom. “Jimmy Page’s studio bathroom, to be precise,” Snider said before explaining why he was in there. “I wasn’t on the bowl or anything. I just needed a quiet place for a few minutes.”

He continued, “Well, the ‘lightning bolt’ hit me while I was talking to someone on the phone. I just went in there to get some privacy for a moment to put my idea down on tape.” Thus, the song’s inspiration came to him unexpectedly as he was just looking for a place to escape the crowd, and the privacy he experienced inspired him to write a song.

If Snider hadn’t taken that moment to collect his thoughts, one of Twisted Sister’s beloved songs, ‘The Price,’ wouldn’t exist. The track was released as the third and final single from the band’s most successful album, ‘Stay Hungry,’ reached number 19 on the Mainstream Rock charts in 1985 and became a fan favorite.
