Dee Snider recently found himself defending Twisted Sister’s upcoming reunion plans after previously criticizing KISS for similar actions. This controversy stems from a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The controversy arose when a fan confronted Snider about his apparent contradiction regarding reunion tours after farewell announcements.

“You also said you would never do what KISS did and do a reunion after a farewell tour, but here we are lol,” the fan wrote. “So give us new Twisted Sister MUSIC!”

Snider responded to address the criticism directly.

“I think 10 years is a fair amount of time retired and these are limited anniversary shows,” he said. “No tour.”

The exchange highlights the tension between Snider’s previous stance against bands returning after farewell tours and Twisted Sister’s announced 50th anniversary reunion shows planned for 2026.

Snider’s defensive response comes as the band prepares for what they’re calling a significant milestone in rock history. The reunion announcement has generated considerable attention among fans who have been waiting for the band’s return since their last major performances.

Blabbermouth reported that the reunion was officially confirmed in September 2025 to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary since its formation on February 2, 1976, at The Turtleneck Inn in Hunter Mountain, NY. Founding members Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, and Eddie Ojeda emphasized their pride in this milestone achievement.

French expressed the band’s sentiment about their lasting impact. He called it “a music and performance legacy that has and will continue to inspire millions of fans around the world.” The guitarist’s statement reflects the band’s recognition of their enduring influence on heavy metal and rock music over five decades.

Snider also shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming performances. Loudwire quoted him as saying, “If you’re lucky enough to be in a band that people still want to see after fifty years, how can you not answer the call? In 2026, Twisted Fucking Sister will hit stages around the world because WE STILL WANNA ROCK!!”

The 2026 performances will feature key members including former drummer Joe “Seven” Franco. This marks the first full Twisted Sister reunion since 2016, when Mike Portnoy filled in following the death of drummer A.J. Pero. Consequence noted that the band last reunited in 2023 for their Metal Hall of Fame induction, though guitarist Eddie Ojeda missed the event due to COVID-19.
