Dee Snider Admits He Hated His Father For A Long Time

Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider recently posted a tweet where he admitted that his father was tough on him and hated him for years.

Dee Snider was born on March 15, 1955, in Astoria, Queens, New York City. He grew up in Freeport and Baldwin and graduated from Baldwin Senior High School in 1972. Snider’s father is a retired New York State Trooper and Nassau County court clerk. In addition, his mother, Marguerite, was a retired art teacher.

Snider sang in a church choir and school choruses as a child. However, like Gene Simmons, whose father abandoned him at a young age, or Sting, who struggled as a young boy due to growing up in a dysfunctional family, Snider also had issues within the household.

In a tweet, the rocker celebrated Father’s Day and said he spent the day with his 91-year-old war-veteran father. Upon seeing this, one of his fans replied to him and stated Snider’s father must have been a fantastic parent because he raised someone as great as him.

The musician then saw this tweet and revealed that his father was tough on him in the past, and he hated him for it for a long time. Moreover, the singer stated that his father also inspired his music and career for the wrong reasons. However, according to the Twisted Sister icon, he realized his father made him the person he is now, and they have moved on.

The fan tweeted the following:

“Wow, he sounds like a badass! He must have been an amazing father to raise someone as great as you!”

Upon seeing this, Snider said:

“Actually, he was really tough on me & I hated him for it. He inspired most of my music & my career for all the wrong reasons. Several years ago, I realized he made me the man I am & I thanked him for it. These last few years, we’ve become very close. I’m glad he lived long enough.”
