David Lee Roth has shared his first public post following reports that he canceled his remaining tour dates due to low ticket sales. The post appeared to be a veiled response to the cancellation news.
Roth shared a video of himself playing limbo on stage, attempting to get under a horizontal pole.
“Roth reaches a new low…” David Lee Roth wrote in the caption of his video.
The post drew reactions from fans, with some expressing concern and others defending his recent performances. One fan commented: “I have heard that Dave has cancelled the rest of his tour. I hope Dave is OK and maybe he will join Sammy in Vegas. Take care Dave.”
Another fan pushed back against criticism of the shows, sharing a different perspective from the crowd. “For all you people talking shit. I was front row at that show (Vancouver) Dave was awesome. The whole crowd was rocking and into it,” the fan wrote.
The Instagram post marked Roth’s only public response to the wave of cancellations that swept through his 2026 summer schedule, leaving fans and the rock community searching for answers.
Nearly all of Roth’s remaining 2026 U.S. summer tour dates were pulled from his official schedule. Only his August 7 appearance at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip in South Dakota was left standing. The scrapped shows included stops in Dillon, Colorado; Clear Lake, Iowa; Louisville, Kentucky; and East Moline, Illinois, among others.
Low ticket sales were cited as the primary reason behind the cancellations, with reports pointing to empty seats at several June and July shows. The dates quietly disappeared from Roth’s official website on July 23 without any formal announcement. Ticketholders were left to seek refunds at their respective points of purchase.
No official statement was released by Roth or his team to explain the decision. The silence only deepened speculation among fans, many of whom took to social media to voice concern about the 71-year-old rock legend’s wellbeing and the future of his solo career.
The news also drew a response from longtime rival and fellow Van Halen alumnus Sammy Hagar. Hagar posted a video message expressing concern for Roth’s wellbeing and extending an open invitation for him to join Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony at their upcoming Las Vegas residency. The gesture did not go unnoticed by the rock community.
